Our Pastor, Joseph McGaha

Pastor Joseph (Jody) McGaha came to Rock Springs Baptist in August of 2021. A native of Candler, NC, Pastor Jody has been in Christian ministry for nearly thirty years; with more than twenty-five of those in the role of Senior Pastor. A graduate of Appalachian State University in 1993 and Trinity Baptist Bible College in 1998, Pastor Jody has been married to his wife Tonya since 1995. He and Tonya have three homeschooled sons: Jonathan, Joshua, and Jacob.

Saved at the age of six, Pastor Jody lists several men as key influences in his life; among those are Rev. R.H. Lance, Rev. Jim Whitted, and Dr. Bill Day. Having been raised in a home that was blessed to be visited by the likes of Dr. J. Harold Smith, Dr. Percy Ray, and Dr. Estus Pirkle, Pastor Jody references these men often in his preaching and teaching.

In addition to involvement within the various ministries and outreaches of the churches that he has pastored, Pastor Jody has been active in the communities where he and his family have lived. He has taught in several Christian schools and Bible Colleges, led community-wide events, and also served as a Chaplain for local law enforcement agencies.

Pastor Jody’s deepest passions are bringing people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, both here and around the world, and working to help establish strong families. His burden is to see America return to the Godly foundations on which she was built and to see a mighty revival sweep through our nation once again. He is passionately pro-life and pro-family as The Scriptures clearly teach; and often prays, as did his mentor, “That the Spirit of God would take The Word of God and make the child of God more like the Son of God.”
